The Divine Love of Meera and Krishna
MEERA BELIEVES HER MOTHER
Meera (1498 - 1557)was a Rajput princess who lived in the north Indian state of Rajasthan. When she was just four years of age on watching a marriage procession Meera , the child, asked her mother innocently, "Dear mother, who will be my bridegroom?" Meera's mother smiled, and half in jest pointed towards the image of Sri Krishna and said, "My dear Meera Lord Krishna is going to be your bridegroom". She manifested a deep devotion to Krishna. She lost her mother soon
MEERA RELUCTANTLY MARRIES RANA OF MEWAR
As Meera grew up she believed that Lord Krishna would come to marry her Meera was beautiful ,soft-spoken, mild-mannered, gifted, sweet, and sang with a melodious voice . Very reluctantly she consented to marry Rana Sangha, the powerful King of Mewar .After her household duties were over, Meera would go to the temple of Lord Krishna, worship, sing and dance before Lord Krishna's Idol daily. Her mother-in-law and other ladies did not like her ways and forced her to worship Durga . But she maintained, "I have already given up my life to my beloved Lord Krishna".
RANA SUSPECTS MEERA
Her sister-in-law Udabai conspired to defame the innocent Meera. She informed Rana Kumbha that Meera was secretly in love with some one .Kumbha ran with a sword in hand towards Meera but was calmed down .With his sister he went to the temple at night broke open the door, and found Meera alone in her ecstatic mood talking and singing to Krishna's idol.He shouted "Meera, show me your lover with whom you are talking now". Meera replied, "There sits He—my Lord She stood unruffled in the face of accusations of immoral character and said that she was married to Krishna .Her husband was heart-broken but he remained good and sympathized with her until his death.
CONSPIRACY TO KILL HER
Meera was sent a basket with a cobra inside and a message that the basket contained a garland of flowers. Meera opened the basket and found inside a lovely idol of Sri Krishna with a garland of flowers. She was sent her a cup of poison saying that it was nectar. Meera offered it to her Lord Krishna as Prasad. It was real nectar to her. The bed of nails that Rana sent transformed into a bed of roses when Meera reposed on it.
MEERA MENTORS ,TULSIDAS AND RAIDAS
When the torture and scandals continued, Meera sent a letter to Tulsidas and asked for his advice. Tulsidasji sent a reply: "Abandon those who cannot understand you .The relation with God and the love of God are the only elements that are true and eternal; all other relationships are unreal and temporary". Meera met her Guru and mentor Raidas, who is said to have lived to a ripe age of 118 years. She went into the slums often to be in the satsang of this great teacher.
AKBAR AND BIRBAL PAY OBEISANCE TO MEERA
The turning point in Meerabai’s life occurred when once Akbar and Tansen came in disguise to Chittor temple to hear Meera’s devotional and inspiring songs. They touched the holy feet of Meera and placed a necklace of priceless gems in front of the idol as a present. When Rana heard this he became furious. He told Meera , "Drown yourself in the river and never show your face to the world in future. You have brought great disgrace on my family".
KRISHNA SAVES MEERA ,SHIFTS TO VRINDABAN
Meerabai obeyed the words of King. She proceeded to the river to drown herself. Chanting "Govinda, Giridhari, Gopala" She danced in ecstasy on her way to the river. A hand from behind grasped her and embraced her. She turned and saw her beloved Giridhari. She fainted on him. Lord Krishna smiled and gently whispered: "My dear Meera, your life with your mortal relatives is over now. You are absolutely free. Be cheerful. You are and have always been mine." She then shifted to Vrindaban.
MEERA RETURNS TO MEWAR
A repentant Kumbha came to Vrindavan to ask Meera for forgiveness and begged her to return Meera said to Rana that my life belongs to Krishna .For the first time,he truly understood Meera’s exalted state of mind and prostrated before her in reverence. He then promptly left Vrindavan a changed soul. Her fame spread far and wide At the request of KumbhaRana, Meera returned to Mewar and Kumbha agreed to her request that she would reside in the temple of Krishna he would not restrict her movements and wanderings.
MEERA MERGES WITH KRISHNA IN DWARKA
On Janmashtami at the temple of Krishna in Dwarka She said ‘Oh, Giridhari, are you calling me, I am coming’. Kumbha and the rest watched in awe, there was a lightning which enveloped Meera and the sanctum doors closed on their own. When the doors opened again, Meera’s saree was enveloping Lord Krishna’s idol and her voice and the flute accompaniment were the only sounds that could be heard
AN EMBODIMENT OF DIVINE LOVE
It is on account of her renunciation, single-minded devotion to Lord Krishna and the self-realization that she is remembered so reverently .She conversed with Krishna. She ate with Krishna, her Beloved. She drank the Krishna-premarasa. She sang from the core of her heart about her unique spiritual experiences. She was indeed one of the foremost embodiments of Premabhakthi (divine love ) and an inspired poetess that ever walked on earth.

Dhwarkadhish ki Kahaani
Birth:-
- Appearance of Shri Krishna, at Midnight of Shravana Month, Rohini Nakshatra (Star), (approx. July 20/21, Year 3228 BC) from the womb of Mother Devaki (as eighth son) at the prison of Mathura in the Vrishni Clan of Yadavas.
- Prior to Shri Krishna’s appearance Garbha Stuti (prayers) offered by Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and various other demigods towards the womb of Devaki.
- Shri Krishna was taken by Vasudeva from Mathura to Gokul, where Nand Maharaj and Yashoda Mother were living.
- Shri Krishna’s Birth Rituals performed at Gokul in the house of Nand Maharaj.
Age 1 to 3 (Gokul):-
- Sage Garga Muni named the child as Krishna (dark, all-attractive), in naming ceremony
- Shri Krishna Loves to eat Makhhan..
- Shri Krishna showed the Entire Cosmos Universe in His mouth to mother Yashoda
- Mother Yashoda tried to bind Shri Krishna with rope, famously known as Damodar Lila (One of the best Lila of Devotion).
Age 3 to 7 (Vrundavan):-
- Nand Maharja and elders for Gokul decided to leave Gokul and move to Vrindavan, due to lots of disturbance by demons to Shri Krishna
- Shri Krishna killed demons like Bakasura, Aghasura, Vatsasura on different occasions in Vrindavan
- Lord
Brahma took away all the calves and cowherd boys and kept them secretly in
secluded place for one year. After one year when Brahma returned he saw all the
calves and cowherd were already there as an expansion of Shri Krishna, and Shri Krishna was playing with
them. By the mercy of Shri Krishna, Lord Brahma understands
the Shri Krishna’s eternal
potency and his illusion cleared. Finally Lord Brahma offer prayers to
glorify Shri Krishna
- Killing of Dhenuka Asura
by Shri Krishna and
Lord Balarama.
- Shri Krishna punished the
serpent Kaliya for contamination of Yamuna rivers’ water with poison, and also
performed the divine dance on Kaliya. Shri Krishna asked Kaliya
serpent to leave the Yamuna river.
- Shri Krishna saved the cows and
cowherd boys from the great fire of Munjaaranya forest by swallowing the fire.
- Gopis (great, unalloyed,
pure; devotees of Shri Krishna)
worshipped Goddess Katyaani to get Shri Krishna as their husband. When Gopis were bathing in
Yamuna River and Glorifying Shri
Krishna’s Qualities, Shri
Krishna stole their clothes from the bank of Yamuna river. In order
to fulfill their wishes and give lesson to gopis bathing in Yamuna river,
- Shri Krishna has performed this
lila at the age around seven. he went to jungle as shepherd.
- Shri Krishna lifted the Govardhan Hill, Govardhan Puja commenced their after, Lord Indra false prestigious and pride crushed by Shri Krishna.
- Lord Indra and cow Surabhi gave the name Govinda to Shri Krishna.
- After that, the Raas-Lila between Shri Krishna and Gopis commenced, which is the Ultimate Pinnacle of Divine Love & Devotion.
- Few more salvation of demons like Aristaa (Bull), Kesi (Horse) Vyoamasura.
Age 7 to 10 (Mathura):-
- Akrura came to Vrindavan to bring Shri Krishna and Lord Balarama to Mathura for participating in bow sacrifice and wrestling match on Kansa’s request.
- Shri Krishna broke the Sacrificial Bow that has caused terror in the heart of Kansa. Prior to that Shri Krishna showed some of His opulence to the people of Mathura. Shri Krishna killed elephant namely, Kuvalayaapida.
- Afterwards different wrestler were killed by Shri Krishna and Lord Balarama, specifically Caanura and
Mustika. Finally Shri Krishna killed
His maternal uncle Kansa.
Age 10 to 28 (Education):-
- Shri Krishna and Lord Balarama went to live with Saandipani Muni at Avantipura (ujjain) for higher education.
- The spiritual master Saandipani Muni instructed both Shri Krishnaand Lord Balarama, detailed knowledge of Vedas, Upanishads, Upvedas; along with that all other sixty four traditional arts.
- As Guru Dakshana Shri Krishna and Lord Balarama brought back the son of their Guru Saandipani Muni from the clutches of Yamaraja.
Dhwarka:-
- Shri Krishna defeated Magahda
King JaraaSandha seventeen times in battle and then constructed the city of
Dwarka.
- Shri Krishna established the Kingdom
in Dwarka.
- Shri Krishna kidnapped and married Rukmini on her request.
- Pradyumna born as a son of Shri Krishna and Rukmini.
- Shri Krishna has 8 principal wives.
- Shri Krishna killed demon named
Narkasura, and then married to 16100 maidens kidnapped under the demon.
- 161080 sons and daughters born to Shri Krishna from various wives.
- Shri Krishna worshipped His friend
Sudama, who came to His palace seeking charity and then He blessed him with lot
of wealth.
Mahabharat:-
- Shri Krishna visited Indraprastha to meet Paandavas and Queen Kunti.
- Kunti and Vasudeva(father of Krishna) were siblings which makes Krishna and pandavas related to each other as cousins
- Shri Krishna asked Arjuna to kidnap His sister Subhadra and marry her. Arjun and Subhdra have son, abhimanyu.
- Shri Krishna went as Peace Messenger
to Hastinapur to avoid the War between Pandavas and Kaurava. Dhryodhan closed
all the door of peace, and Mahabharata War took place in Kurukshetra.
- Shri Krishna has saved draupadi from duryodhana.
- Shri Krishna become charioteer
of Arjuna in the Battle of Mahabharta and Bhagavad Gita was taught to Arjuna in
Kurukshetra.
- Shri Krishna helped the Pandvas to win the Dharma Yudh.
- Fall of Yadhuvanshi Dyansty (cursed by Gandhaari).
- Shri Krishna saved the Prakishit in the womb of Uttara (wife of Abhimanyu) towards the end of war, from the Brhamastra of Ashwathama. Prakishit later on become the great devotee of Shri Krishna and listened Shrimad Bhagavatam from Sukhdev Goswami.
- Shri Krishna gave His final
teaching disclosure to His great friend and devotee Uddhava, which is referred
as Uddhava Gita (Hamsa Gita).
Dakor:-
- The form of Lord Ranchhodrai is that of the Lord Vishnu with four arms. As is usual with Lord Vishnu, he bears the conch, lotus, discus and the mace in his hands. The lower right arm is held up in the abhaya mudra - giving protection to all those who come to Him.
Shamlaji :-
- There are three very interesting legend behind the creation of this temple.
- According to one, Brahma once embarked on a journey to find out the best tirtha (sacred site) on the earth. After seeing a number of places, he came to Shamlaji, which he liked the most and performed penance there for one thousand years. Lord Shiva, who was pleased with him, asked him to perform a yajna (ritual). At the beginning of the yajna, Lord Vishnu manifested himself in the form of Shamlaji, and was enshrined at this place.
- Another legend has it that Vishwakarma, the architect of the Gods, constructed this temple in one night, but as it was morning by the time he completed it, he could not take it with him and had to return leaving it here.
- According to the third story, an Adivasi found the idol of Shamlaji while ploughing his land. He worshipped it by lighting a lamp everyday and was blessed for his faith by having an abundant yield in his farm. Learning of this, a Vaishnava merchant built the temple and installed the idol therein, which was later beautified by the Idar rulers. More recently, a prominent business family further renovated this temple.
Death:-
- Shri Krishna after watching
self-destruction of Yadhuvanshi went to forest near Somnath, in Bhalka Teerath
for meditation. A hunter namely Jara, mistook the Shri Krishna’s feet as deer eye and accidently shot an arrow
towards that, (that part of Shri
Krishnabecame weaken by the warrior Barbarik before the Mahabharata War).
